Forgot E-Way Bill Username or Password: How to Recover Access
Use Forgot Password or Forgot Username on the official portal's login screen. Both verify you with an OTP sent to your registered mobile number. After that you can set a new password or see your username.

How to reset your E-Way Bill password
- Open the official portal's login page
Go to ewaybillgst.gov.in and click Login.
- Click Forgot Password
It's shown near the login button.
- Enter the requested details
Usually your username and GSTIN (or Transporter ID), plus the captcha.
- Verify the OTP
An OTP is sent to the mobile number registered for your login. Enter it to confirm it's you.
- Set a new password
Choose a strong password that you haven't used before, then log in with it.
The portal shows its password rules on screen. Typically a password needs at least 8 characters, and a mix of upper- and lower-case letters, numbers and special characters is recommended. Passwords are case-sensitive.
Recover a forgotten username
- Open the login page and click Forgot Username
It's next to Forgot Password on the official portal.
- Choose your user type and enter your details
Enter your GSTIN (or Transporter ID) and the other details requested, plus the captcha.
- Verify with OTP
The OTP goes to your registered mobile number.
- Note your username
The portal displays or sends your username. Save it somewhere safe so you don't need to do this again.
Remember: your E-Way Bill username is different from your GSTIN and from your GST common portal username. Many “wrong password” problems are actually caused by entering the GST portal username here.
How to change your password when you're logged in
If you know your current password and just want a new one, log in and use the password change option in your account's menu. It's a good idea to change it whenever an employee who knew it leaves your business.
Recovery not working?
The OTP goes to a number you no longer use
The main user's contact details come from the GST registration. Update the mobile number on the GST common portal through an amendment of registration, then try the recovery again once the change reflects in the E-Way Bill system.
The portal says your GSTIN is inactive or not found
If your GST registration has been cancelled or suspended, the E-Way Bill account can't be used. Check your registration status on the GST common portal.
Your login is temporarily blocked
After several wrong attempts, the portal blocks login for a short time as a security measure. Wait a few minutes before trying again, and use the recovery options rather than guessing. See E-Way Bill login not working for more.
Sub-user forgot password
Sub-users are created and managed by the main user. If a sub-user can't log in, the main user can review that sub-user's details in the user management section and update or re-issue access. The portal sends sub-user credentials to the mobile and email entered for that sub-user. Read more in sub-user login.
Keep your login secure
- Don't share the main login. Create sub-users for staff instead.
- Don't save your password in shared or office computers' browsers.
- Set up an OTP method that you control personally.
- Change the password if you suspect anyone else knows it.
Frequently asked questions
How do I reset my E-Way Bill password?
Click Forgot Password on the official portal's login page, enter your username and GSTIN or Transporter ID, verify the OTP sent to your registered mobile, and set a new password.
I forgot my E-Way Bill username. What should I do?
Use Forgot Username on the login page, enter your GSTIN or Transporter ID and verify the OTP. The portal then shows or sends your username.
Is my E-Way Bill login ID the same as my GSTIN?
No. Your login ID (username) is created when you register on the E-Way Bill portal. The GSTIN is used to identify your business during registration and recovery.
Can I recover my password without the registered mobile number?
Recovery needs the OTP sent to your registered mobile. If that number has changed, update it in your GST registration first or contact the official helpdesk.
Ready to log in?
Use only the official government portal. ewaybillogin.com never asks for your password or OTP.
