E-Invoice Login and Its Link to the E-Way Bill System
The NIC e-invoice portal is at einvoice1.gst.gov.in. Taxpayers already registered on the E-Way Bill portal can generally use the same username and password there, with the same mandatory OTP. Once an e-invoice (IRN) is generated, the e-way bill can be generated from it.

Official e-invoice portal
NIC runs the e-invoice portal at einvoice1.gst.gov.in (opens official site in a new tab). Other Invoice Registration Portals (IRPs) are also authorised, and their list is published on the GST portal.
Logging in to the e-invoice portal
- Open einvoice1.gst.gov.in
Type the address yourself.
- Use your existing credentials
If you're already registered on the E-Way Bill portal, NIC's e-invoice portal accepts the same username and password, according to its release notes as widely reported. If not, register on the e-invoice portal using your GSTIN.
- Complete the OTP step
Two-factor authentication is mandatory on e-invoice portals too, using the same OTP methods as the E-Way Bill portal.
Generating an e-way bill from an e-invoice
When you generate an e-invoice, you can include transport details so that the e-way bill is generated along with the IRN, or generate it afterwards using the IRN. This saves re-entering invoice details. Most businesses that do this use an ERP or GSP integration.
Common questions about the link
- Changing your password on one portal: check whether the change applies to both, and keep a note of your current password.
- NIC's 2FA guidance says that once you register for two-factor authentication, it applies to both the E-Way Bill and e-invoice systems. See E-Way Bill login OTP.
